Neither losartan- nor atenolol-based antihypertensive regimens could prevent the progression of aortic valve (AV) sclerosis in elderly, high-risk hypertensive patients, and the regression of AV sclerosis did not translate into reduced cardiovascular risk. (C)2004 by Excerpta Medica, Inc.
