摘要
The metabolic syndrome (MS) is associated with impaired global left ventricular function. These preclinical cardiac abnormalities could be ascribed to the interplay of the metabolic components characterizing the MS. The MS can be clinically manifested in a variety of ways. A sizable number of metabolic changes thus occur in people with clinical evidence of the syndrome. We believe that the identification of these changes should provide a broader picture of the metabolic status of an affected individual. (C) 2008 Elsevier Ireland Ltd. All rights reserved.
