Athermal Micro-ring Resonator with Large Free Spectral Range using Wide Ring Waveguide

摘要
By incorporating TiO2 as upper cladding, athermal micro-ring resonator with remnant temperature sensitivity as small as 0.78 pm/degrees C and figure-of-merit 2.1x10(-4)/degrees C is reported in the temperature span of 30 degrees C relative to room temperature (25 degrees C). To compare this result, we calculated temperature dependent shift with SiO2 as upper cladding and sensitivity of 68 pm/degrees C is exhibited. Wide ring waveguide facilitates ring radius as small as 2.2 mu m with greater power confinement to attain wide free spectral range of similar to 49 nm.
