A study of locating vehicle license plate based on color feature and mathematical morphology

摘要
In a vehicle license plate identification system, plate region detection is the key step before the final recognition. A new method based on color feature and mathematical morphology, which can be used to locate the text area of a vehicle plate in the complicated background, is proposed in the paper. And the cure technology is confirming the function of color feature to locate the plate region The result of experimentation showed that the method given has the merit of higher accuracy, faster rate, and more extensive scope.
