摘要
Orthodontics is based on tooth movement through bone resulting from the application of mechanical forces. The bone remodeling takes place through an inflammatory process associated with pain or discomfort. Many practitioners recommend to their patients to use analgesics such as non-steroidal antiinflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) to control the discomfort associated with the inflammatory process, unaware that studies have shown that most of NSAIDs inhibit orthodontic tooth movement. This review tries to find the best therapeutically approach in terms of pain relief and rate of orthodontic movement based on today knowledge.
