摘要：
Time represents an essential factor in longitudinal research. However, the meaning of time and its implications to theory building and methodology are seldom defined. Therefore the aim of this paper is to analyse the temporal dimensions of the methodological domain of longitudinal studies in the field of international business. The research questions are 1) what is the temporal dimension of longitudinal research design from a methodological perspective, and 2) how are the timeframes selected and justified in longitudinal researches. The research was conducted as a literature review in four top-level international business journals during 2000-2005. The main contribution of this research is to the methodological domain of longitudinal research designs and temporal research in general.
