摘要
Introduction Professional mistakes and malpractice cases are a matter of great concern from the press' perspective, these being subjects that attract high attention from the population and offer raised audiences through the theme they approach. Material and Methods Media articles published in the past year were analyzed, which were broadcasted through media channels with national impact as well as with local impact, presenting professional medical errors, cases of malpractice, possible cases of malpractice, implications of misdirected medical activity or possibly misdirected medical activity. Results The press is very interested in the medical topic, especially in errors and controversies, using headlines that attract the attention of the recipients of the message and create a feeling of sensational, challenging the trust that the medical system would deserve. Conclusions The influence of the press by presenting sometimes in an aggravating form the broadcasted cases influences the public opinion and creates an image that emphasizes the shortcomings in the medical system at the expense of progresses and successes, and it is necessary to change the paradigm regarding the way analysis of the possible cases of medical error is made, as well as the truth of the presented information.
