摘要
This paper is an attempt to determine the burden of dementia among various socio demographic and personal variables and to find out the significant risk factors related to socio demographic and personal variables for dementia method using the primary data collected from the respondents through structured, pre-tested schedule method. Paper examines the significant risk factors and the distribution of this disease among elderly in Varanasi city, U P. This study is based on 183 males and 133 females aged 60 years and above to screen the dementia, Hindi Mental State Examination (HMSE) was used as the instrumental tool to find out the score of the individual and a cut off score of <= 23 is considered as positivity of dementia among the study subjects chi(2) test, univariate and multivariate logistic regression analysis were used to find out significant association of risk factors with dementia.
