摘要：
Chlamydia pneumoniae is the prime candidate among infectious agent to participate the inflammation found in atherosclerosis and its complications. The association has been found in over 30 studies and its presence in the lesions also has been demonstrated in over 30 studies. Future research should concentrate in pathogenic mechanisms, animal experiments, and intervention trials.
