摘要
The study addresses scour downstream of an apron due to submerged jet issuing from sluice opening. Experiments were conducted with non-cohesive uniform sediments of various sizes to investigate equilibrium scour hole downstream of an apron due to submerged horizontal jet issuing from sluice opening. The submergence ratio and jet Froude numbers were varied from 0.96 to 1.85 and from 2.58 to 4.87 respectively. Three dimensional velocity measurements were carried out within equilibrium scour hole using Acoustic Doppler Velocimeter (ADV). The continuity and Navier-Stokes equations for steady turbulent flow are applied to determine Reynolds stress and corrected for scoured bed. The rate of change of scour depth with respect to the longitudinal direction is written in terms of first order differential equation. Finally, solving the resulting differential equation, the profile of equilibrium scour hole is determined. The computed and the experimentally observed profiles match well within the scour hole.
