PRODUCTION OF SPACE, MEMORY AND IDEOLOGY: RELATIONSHIPS AND CONTRADICTIONS

This article proposes to analyze space as a social production based on Lefebvrian theory, highlighting the contradictions and the dynamics that isproper to the production of geographical space in a critical and dialecticalperspective. This is part of the discussion of the theoretical questions of thedoctoral thesis titled: Between "strange corners" and "nuances of walls" :reproduction of space and memory in the city of Vitoria da Conquista - BA (2000- 2016) with the persecution of relations between memory and space based onthe practices of social subjects referred to by Harvey (1980), emphasizing socialclasses and verifying how they become constituents of memory and how theyuse it as a form of legitimation and social domination. The study observed the importance of thinking space as humanproduction based mainly on Lefebvre's (2006) theory to identify the role ofmemory in social praxis and spatial practice not only as a narrative of the past,but as mediation of the present and as a form of appropriation of history bysocial subjects.
