This piece reviews key aspects of the volume The Empire Strikes Back in order to reconsider the approaches to analysing state racism and economic crisis and to suggest parallels for our time. The piece examines the manner in which the authors seek to position an understanding of racism at the heart of any class analysis. The piece also considers the representation of black feminism in the collection.
