摘要：

The current requirement in direction of economic and social development is the move towards sustainability. Sustainable development is regarded as a multidimensional concept, which makes its quantification significantly difficult. For the evaluation of sustainable development and its dimensions many different types of indicators are currently used. The aim of this paper is to assess the sustainability of development in the EU, using selected indicators of sustainable development. Performed evaluations will enable further assessment whether the EU countries create a homogeneous entity in achieving sustainable development. Based on the results of assessment, the recommendations applicable in ensuring sustainable development in the field of sustainability management can be suggested.
