Appendectomy is one of the most commonly performed surgical procedures in general surgery. The procedure should be quick, easy and safe. For transection of the appendix the use of a stapling device should be preferred. Using a stapling device, a safe closure of the appendical stump is possible in an easy way. The mesoappendix can be transected by using mono- or bipolar current, endoloop, clips or a stapling device. We present the results of more than 1,500 appendectomies with our standardized laparoscopic technique.
