摘要
The defense capacities of human peritoneal mesothelial cells (HPMC) were investigated in terms of phagocytosis, oxidative burst reaction, antigen presentation and early apoptosis. HMPC showed phagocytosis of E. coli, but were burst negative. HMPC highly up-regulated HLA-DR and slightly CD 86 expression after stimulation with Interferon-gamma (IFN-gamma), but not after stimulation with Tumor Necrosis Factor-a (TNF-alpha). T-lymphocytes showed no increased proliferation (H-3-Thymidine incorporation) after stimulation of HMPC with IFN-gamma and E. coli. The rate of apoptosis (Annexing-V binding) was not enhanced by stimulation with Lipopolysaccharid (LPS), IFN-gamma, or TNF-alpha. Despite up-regulation of surface HLA-DR and bacterial phagocytosis HMPC do not seem to exert defense capacities other than barrier function and cytokine - induced activation of other cells.
