摘要
Background and aim: Evaluate the effect of mouth breathing on airway changes in children Method:In this systematic review and meta-analysis study, all English-language full-text articles published in international databases that listed the words mouth breathing, airway changes, children in PubMed, Scopus, Science Direct databases, Embase were reviewed between January 2019 and May 2022. Data analysis was performed using STATA.V16 software. Result:Mean differences of SPAS, PAS, and 3C-H between Mouth breathing and Nasal Breathing were-4.92 (95% CI -5.45,-4.38), -1.91 (95% CI -2.62, -1.19), 4.31 (95% CI 3.52, 5.11), respectively. Overall Airway changes were -2 (MD -2.00; 95% CI -2.62, -1.19). Conclusion: present study showed mouth breathing can affect jaw growth in children and all airway changes were lower in mouth-breathing individuals than in nasal-breathing individuals.
