摘要
Organic solar cells are still very interesting contenders for the mass production of low-cost photovoltaics. However, the gap between the power conversion efficiency of ideal solar cells-the thermodynamic Shockley-Queisser limit-and state-of-the-art organic photovoltaic devices is larger than for other current technologies. In this review, an overview of the dominant loss mechanism limiting this solar cell class is presented: nongeminate, nonradiative recombination of charge carriers.
