Evaluation of possibilities for using off-grade polyethylene terephthalate in friction joints

摘要
The physicomechanical and triboengineering properties of off-grade polyethylene terephthalate (PETP) and composites on its base are studied. It is shown that the coatings produced from off-grade PETP powder are on a par with the ones obtained from the branded stock of this polymer. Modification of PETP by organic and inorganic additives makes it possible to obtain composites for antifrictional purposes. The coatings from off-grade PETP composites are not inferior to their analogues on the polyamide-6 base in their triboengineering characteristics, and even surpass them in such properties as moisture absorption and stability of their adhesive bonding to metals.
