The geographical distribution of species of the genus Ophionyssus Megnin (Acari) parasitic on lacertid lizards of the genus Gallotia Boulenger, endemic to the Canary Islands, is studied. A new species Ophionyssus dolatelacensis n. sp. (Acari: Macronyssidae) is described from Gallotia atlantica from the island of Lanzarote, Canary Islands, Spain.
