Study of scalar meson f0(980) from B → f0(980)K* decays

In this paper, the branching ratios and the direct CP-violating asymmetries for decays (B) over bar (0) -> f(0)(980)(K) over bar*(0) and B- -> f(0)(980)K*(-) by employing the perturbative QCD factorization approach are studied. In the two-quark model supposition, f(0)(980) is commonly viewed as a mixture of s (s) over bar and n (n) over bar (equivalent to (u (u) over bar + d (d) over bar)/root 2), that is vertical bar f(0)(980)> = vertical bar s (s) over bar > cos theta + vertical bar n (n) over bar > sin theta, where theta is the f(0) - sigma mixing angle. We find that the non-factorizable f(0) emission type diagrams can give large contributions to the final results, which are consistent with the present experimental data and the upper limit in the allowed mixing angle ranges. We predict that the direct CP asymmetry A(CP)(dir)(f(0)(980)(K) over bar*(0)) is small, only a few percent, which can be tested by future B factory experiments.
