摘要：

Petroleum is an essential resource for energy generating and raw material for the petrochemical industry. The sustainable development of the petrochemical industry plays a very important role to facilitate the Chinese economic development. With the rapid development of the economy, the demand of energy has been increasing largely in China. However, the domestic energy reserves are in severe shortage and the gap between oil demand and domestic production has widened. Therefore, how to realize sustainable development of the Chinese petrochemical industry has become an important issue to be studied. Based on the 'diamond model', the paper indicates the determine factors of industrial competitiveness, and figures out the way to enhance the industrial competitiveness of Petrochemical Industry. To sum up, the paper comes to the conclusion that enhancing the industrial competitiveness is the best way to guarantee the sustainable development of the Chinese petrochemical industry.
