Researches and Practices on River Ethics, Ecological Civilization and Keeping Healthy Life of the Yellow River

The ecological civilization representing the orientation of civil development in the future has become an inevitable choice for development of human society. The rivers, serving as the basis of survival of creatures, are also the cradle of human civilization. The rivers own not only instrumental value but also intrinsic value. The rivers are endowed with rights of creation. The river ethics concept of harmonious symbiosis of human being and nature by extending the human ethics to the relationship between human and rivers was put forward. The human basic responsibilities and obligations of the river should become the basic requirements for the River ethical practices. In recent years, Yellow River Conservancy Commission launched a series of exploration, such as Water and sediment regulation, Water resources management, Measures dealing with coarse sediment of the Yellow River, standardized embankment construction in the lower Yellow River, Lowering Tongguan Elevation by the floods in the peach flood season, effectively solved or alleviated the problems of the Yellow River facing.
