The Dynamic Impacts of Anti-dumping and Ownership Property on Performance of Chinese Enterprises

Focusing on the global anti-dumping cases in China for the period 2007 to 2015 this paper investigates the effects of anti-dumping on performance of Chinses enterprises by using a DID model with financial data of 860 A-share listed firms. Our empirical results obtain several key findings. First, in the benchmark model, the enterprise suffers a decline in performance after it is subject to an anti - dumping duty. Then, the further study finds that the impacts of anti-dumping on the performance of private enterprises are not significant, but anti-dumping will significantly reduce the performance of state-owned enterprises. Finally, this paper selects the successful anti-dumping tax cases as robust tests and demonstrates that anti-dumping will reduce the enterprise performance.
