Anisotropic effects in polymer-particle composites: The influence of organic coatings and wall-slip phenomena

摘要
The influence of organic coatings and wall-slip phenomena was investigated on the anisotropic properties in polymer-particle composites. Solid state properties are influenced by additive concentration and surface interactions. The filler coatings are used to avoid excess particle aggregation. A wide angle X-ray diffraction (WAXD) method has been developed to characterize crystal orientation of magnesium hydroxide additives in a high molar mass grade of medium density polyethylene (MDPE). The analysis were done using X-ray diffraction and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). Wall slip phenomena was derived from parallel heat reversion data from isothermal experiments on injection molded MDPE.
