摘要
In the Natural Integrated Management Area (ANMI) of Apolobamba (Province of La Paz, Bolivia), intense gold mining activities have been carried out since ancient times to the present, with very little extraction and mineral processing technology, where mercury is still being used. As a consequence, high environmental pollution by heavy metals (Cd, Pb, Cu, Zn and Hg) may be provoked. Five representative mining districts in Apolobamba were selected: Sunchulli, Suches, Viscachani, Katantica and Sural, based of the extracted mineral volume and the lack of technology. These districts, located in Apolobamba Mountain-range, where altitudes above 5.000 m.a.s.l are reached, consist mainly of little cooperatives. Water, soil and sediments samples were taken and mercury, lead, copper, zinc and cadmium analysed. Total, DTPA and water extractable metals (Pb, Cu, Zn and Cd) were determined. Total mercury analyses were also carried out.
