Determination of histamine in biological sample by high performance liquid chromatography with fluorescence detection after post column-derivatization

A rapid and simple method for the determination of histamine in biological sample by postcolumn derivatization liquid chromatography with fluorescence detection was described. A SCX weakly acidic cation exchange column was used as an analytical column. Histamine was eluted at 13.2 min by 40 mmol/L of trisodium citrate (pH 5.50) at now rate of 1.0 mL/min. The recoveries of histamine ranged from 1.0 mu mol/L to 100 mu mol/L were above 92%. The detection limit was 50 nmol/L and the linear range of the determination was 50 nmol/L similar to 500 mu mol/L histamine.
