Observation of the plasma resonance across the Josephson-coupled layers in the mixed state of organic superconductors

We observed Josephson plasma resonance in the superconducting organic salt kappa-(BEDT-TTF)(2)Cu(NCS)(2) by using a cavity perturbation method. Above the irreversibility line the temperature dependence of the resonance field H-p(T) can be explained by considering the interlayer phase correlation of decoupled pancake vortices. Similar resonance was observed at higher fields in the less anisotropic salt kappa-(BEDT-TTF)(2)Cu[N(CN)(2)]Br. In contrast to the case of Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8+y, the peak field increases as the temperature is lowered even below the irreversibility line for both salts. The difference of the vortex solid state between the high-T-c and organic superconductors is discussed. (C) 1997 Elsevier Science B.V.
