This article analyses two key indicators of economic development: GDP and unemployment. Based on their development we estimated the influence of economic growth on the labour market in the individual regions of the Slovak Republic, as well as the validity of the Okun's law at national and regional level. We compare the GDP and unemployment development in the Slovak regions in 2000 - 2014 on the basis of regression analysis. The aim of this paper is to determine the strength of the relationship between economic growth and unemployment at regional level, and to compare regions with development of Slovakia at the national level and to identify the different development within individual regions.
