Thinking about Affection within Laclau and Kusch's Views of the Notion of People and Populism

The following work aims at inquiring into the concepts of "people" and "populism" in the theories elaborated by Ernesto Laclau and Rodolfo Kusch putting at the core the notions of affection and language. For this purpose, Laclau's Politica e ideologia en la teoria marxista will be looked at first, followed by La razon populista. In a second instance, a revision of Kusch's works will be carried out, namely La seduccion de la barbarie and La negacion en el pensamiento popular. In a third moment, the authors' view regarding the notions of "people" and "populism" will be compared and contrasted. To conclude, the importance of affection and language will be considered.
