摘要
The shift of the peak of the structural band near similar to 1050 cm(-1) was monitored during K+ for Na+ ion-exchange of a soda-lime silicate glass. The IR reflection analysis probes the specimen surface and the shift of the peak can be caused by a change of the surface fictive temperature, surface stress, and composition change due to an ion-exchange treatment. The peak shift due to the fictive temperature change was determined by IR reflection measurements of samples heat-treated at various temperatures and the shift due to the composition change was determined by preparing a glass sample with alkali ions completely replaced. The shift observed during ion-exchange was much larger than the shift due to the fictive temperature change or composition change indicating that the observed peak shift is due mainly to the stress. In addition, an IR reflection band at similar to 950 cm(-1) due to non-bridging oxygen developed as a consequence of ion-exchange in a nitrate liquid. (C) 1997 Elsevier Science B.V.
