摘要
The relationship between diet and health has stimulated great interest, since nutrition could prevent and treat several diseases. The knowledge of the interactions between the genome and nutrients at the molecular level, has led to the advent of nutritional genomics, which involves the sciences of nutrigenomics and nutrigenetics. However, in spite of the growing number of studies, recommendations to tailor the diet according to the genetic profile are not available. Notwithstanding the identification of several gene variations able to impact on metabolism, their impact on two interrelated chronic medical conditions, such as obesity and cardiovascular diseases needs to be further explored.
