Synthesis, crystal structure and luminescent properties of Er2Te4O11

摘要
The new ternary phase Er2Te4O11 was obtained in high yield from high temperature solid state reaction of Er2O3 and TeO2 in a 1:4 molar ratio at 850 degreesC in an evacuated quartz tube. Its structure was established by single-crystal X-ray diffraction (XRD). The title compound crystallizes in the monoclinic space group C2/c (No. 15) with cell parameters of alpha = 12.3563(18), b = 5.0970(1), c = 15.996(2) Angstrom, beta = 106.146(6)degrees, V =967.6(2) Angstrom(3) and Z = 4. The crystal structure of Er2Te4O11 is iso-structural with Ln(2),Te4O11( Ln = Pr, Nd and Ho). It features a porous 3D network built by linear {Te4O11}(6-) anions interconnected by Er(Ill) ions. The lone pair electrons of the Te(IV) ion are orientated towards the cavity of the structure. Near IR luminescent spectrum of Er2Te4O11 shows a strong emission bond at 1530 nm with a luminescent lifetime of 0.275 ms. (C) 2004 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
