摘要
The safety of the PEGs has been studied and reported for over fifty years. Despite the fact that PEGS are generally recognized as safe, there is a paucity of recent literature on this topic. In this chapter we review the literature from early studies, and present new information on the safety of two different PEG polymers, one delivered subcutaneously as a component of an imaging agent and the other intravenously as a component of long-circulating liposomes encapsulating an oncologic product. These recent studies confirm the relative safety of PEG, reporting no significant adverse effects related to PEG administration.
