摘要
Purpose: The aim of the present study was to investigate the effects of taurine on kidney malondialdehyde, superoxide dismutase, glutathione and advanced oxidation protein products in tumor injected mice for the purpose of protection and treatment. Materials and Methods: This study was conducted in 2.5-3 months old Swiss albino male mice. Animals were divided into 4 groups (n = 6 in each group): Group 1 as the healthy control group, group 2 as the tumor control group, group 3 as the taurine protective group, group 4 as the taurine treatment group. Results: The kidney malondialdehyde levels were significantly decreased in the taurine protective group when compared to the tumor control group (p 0.05). However, there was not any significant difference between glutathione levels among all the groups (p > 0.05). The kidney superoxide dismutase activity was significantly increased in the taurine treatment group and the taurine protective group when compared to the tumor control group (p < 0.05). The advanced oxidation protein product levels did not show any significant decrease in the taurine protective group (p > 0.05) when compared to the tumor control group whereas tumor control group level was insignificantly increased in comparison with the healthy control group (p > 0.05). Conclusion: In conclusion, the exogenously administered taurine inhibited free radical increase in kidney, therefore it reinforced antioxidant defenses.
