摘要
Microwave sintering process of nano sized alumina powders is helpful to obtain a high density (99% of theoretical density) with magnesium oxide doping. The fracture strength of the sintered alumina also increases with the formation of dense microstructure, as observed by electron microscopy. The increase of fracture strength is in consonance with the increase in density for samples sintered at higher temperature. The diffusion of the vacancies created by the addition of magnesium oxide is responsible for the formation of highly dense microstructure by microwave sintering process.
