Design and Analysis of Circular Polarization Selective Surface with Stable Axial Ratio for Oblique Incidence

摘要
This paper presents a miniaturized circular polarization selective surfaces (CPSS) for X-band applications. The design concept is based on modifications of the Pierrot cell, which divides a wire into two orthogonal parts and provides a strong coupling between the two orthogonal parts. The proposed CPSS is implemented by cross-inserting several identical printed circuit board (PCB) pieces, thus releasing difficulties in fabrication and assembly. Operation principle and design procedure are developed, then the optimal design parameters are found. As an example, a prototype of the designed CPSS working around 10 GHz is fabricated and measured. Measured results agree well with theoretical ones. Axial ratio and insertion loss smaller than 1 and 0.85 dB, respectively, at 10GHz up to 40 degrees oblique incidence.
