摘要
This study investigates the use of microbial carbonate precipitation (MCP) by Sporosarcina pasteurii (S. pasteurii) to improve the properties of recycled fine aggregate (RFA). The factors influencing MCP are experimentally investigated. The recommended precipitation conditions for the pH, bacteria concentration, and calcium concentration are determined to be 9.5, 10(8) cells/mL, and 0.55 mol/L, respectively. Under these proposed conditions, the effects of MCP modification on RFA are also investigated and found the weight of modified RFA increases and the water absorption of modified RFA decreases. The flexural strength and compressive strength of mortar specimens cast by modified aggregate are improved. The result confirms the positive effects of MCP for improving the properties of RFA.
