摘要
Energy storage and management is an interest increasing subject now a day because of high energy demand from the society. In this regard phase change material (PCM) came into the picture for fulfilling the gap between energy supply and demand. PCM is a heat energy storage material contains high heat storage capacity with less change in volume during phase conversion. In the present work, a numerical study of beeswax based PCM is demonstrated for the purpose of thermal management of the li-ion battery cell. The numerical model of beeswax melting in a square cavity has been produced, and the effects of phase conversion process have been examined for the purpose of improving the heat transfer behaviour of beeswax-based battery thermal management system. The results demonstrated that the position of the heating wall had great effects on the phase change process. The beeswax in the cavity melts in different fashion when heats from different location. The temperature variation with time is also investigated and found that initially temperature increased rapidly but after some time increment rate decreased. (c) 2020 Elsevier Ltd.
