摘要
In this paper, the authors present a study to show how they are evaluating the effect of water content/soil suction on the stiffness of subgrade soils (Mexico) and granular materials (Minnesota). In Mexico, a series of models have been developed and presented to estimate the resilient modulus at optimum water content. On the other hand, in Minnesota a PFC3D distinct element model capable of simulating a triaxial testing of an unsaturated aggregate base material containing geogrid was developed. Initial analyses have demonstrated that geogrid provides benefit by increasing the aggregate layer modulus and that the magnitude of this benefit is influenced by moisture content, friction between aggregate particles, and base layer confinement.
