A finite element based numerical solution was employed for the fully developed laminar flow of power law non-Newtonian fluids in ducts of right triangular cross section. Numerical results for velocity and friction factor are presented for a wide range of duct aspect ratios from 0.1 to 1 and power law index from 0.25 to 1.5. The effects of the flow index and aspect ratio on dimensionless velocity profile and product of friction factor and Reynolds number have been discussed. A correlation for prediction of friction factor for different aspect ratios and power law index was reported. (C) 2003 Elsevier Science Ltd.
