摘要
Nurses are in a key position to identify and treat urinary incontinence (UI)in hospitalized elders. This article reviews the consequences and etiologies of UI with an emphasis on the most common types of UI encountered in the acute hospital setting. Assessment parameters and care strategies are highlighted; a nursing standard of practice protocol also is included.
