摘要
Advances in molecular biology techniques make it possible to study the Y chromosome and to determine its importance in male fertility. The regions of the Y chromosome involved in the control of spermatogenesis are now known, and candidate genes have been identified in these regions. This article discusses these regions and their candidate genes, as well as the laboratory evaluation of deletions on the Y chromosome. Finally, it addresses the clinical impact of these findings in the evaluation of the infertile male.
