摘要
Non-viral gene delivery is a promising but challenging field of biomedical sciences. In recent years, cationic chitosan derivatives have been thoroughly studied as gene delivery systems; however, their efficiency is still rather low. We have developed hydrophobically modified chitosans bearing deoxycholic acid and tocopherol substituents. The modified chitosans form self-assembled particles, and our obtained results indicate possible interaction of our chitosans with nucleic acids. These findings suggest that these modified chitosans warrant further investigation for an ability to promote transfection.
