摘要
Hepatitis E virus ( HEV) is a common cause of acute hepatitis in developing countries of Asia and Africa in which epidemics occur regularly. In these countries, HEV infection is linked to genotypes 1 and 2 and is transmitted between humans via contaminated water. Mortality is particularly high in pregnant women. In industrialized countries the high frequency of autochthonous zoonotic transmission of HEV genotypes 3 and 4 was ignored for a long time due to the high frequency of asymptomatic forms and the lack of performance of diagnostic tools. HEV is transmitted by direct contact with infected animals, eating contaminated food products, or via the environment. Lastly HEV can be transmitted by blood transfusion.
