An assembly line for heterocycles: Multicomponent reactions have become a highly valuable tool for the generation of compound libraries particularly of heterocyclic drug candidates. In particular, metal-assisted transformations have enabled the further extension of established methods and development of new strategies. This Highlight presents some innovative examples in which carbon monoxide is used to generate diverse heterocycles. (Figure Presented). © 2007 Wiley-VCH Verlag GmbH &. Co. KGaA.
