摘要
Hydrogen is a sustainable and climate-friendly storage forrenewable energies and can directly be generated from sunlight, e.g., byphotocatalytic water splitting. This article presents the photocatalytichydrogen evolution using LED irradiation of an aqueous ZnS particledispersion with Na2S and Na2SO3as sacrificial reagents. In contrast topreviously published photocatalytic hydrogen production experiments foreducational purposes, this experiment is safer and more environmentallyfriendly and can therefore be performed by students in school laboratoriesor in regular K-12 chemistry classes using a self-constructed low-costsetup. In addition, digital competences are fostered since the holder of theLED is constructed with a 3D printer and the formed hydrogen isdetected with an Arduino hydrogen sensor.
