摘要
This article proposes a theoretical reflection on men's involvement in the activity of caring. First of all, this paper understands care conceptually from a gender perspective. Indeed, men are recognised as subjects of social rights and, therefore, different political challenges in relation to care are considered. Secondly, it addresses the diversity of needs that men currently demand in order to care. The aim is to analyse the participation and involvement of Spanish men in the provision of care, insofar as there are different models that advocate the detriment of traditional masculinity and fatherhood. In this sense, incipiently, many men are beginning to question their masculinity, with the aim of manifesting attitudes and behaviours in relation to the emotion, receptivity and pleasure of caring. The qualitative analysis of 91 publications is based on an integrated manual and computer coding scheme. In conclusion, it is worth highlighting the need to carry out more empirical research on the participation of Spanish men in caregiving, as well as to deepen the academic framework of caring masculinities.
