摘要
Naturally occurring radioactive materials (NORMs) are investigated in view of recent radiation protection standards, their occurrence and radiometric methods. Numeric results for a large variety of materials measured with a novel instrument for spot screening are presented for the first time. Three problems are discussed in experimental case studies: an appropriate definition of "total specific activity"; an adequate calibration factor for practical purposes; and an acceptable physical assessment of numeric results.
