Magnetic field effect on the binding energy of a bound polaron in a quantum well wire

We present a theoretical study of the binding energies of a donor hydrogenic impurity in a cylindrical quantum well wire semiconductor subject to an external magnetic field. Calculations are made using the variational approach within the effective mass approximation. We describe the effect of the quantum confinement by an infinitely deep potential well and we take into consideration the interaction between the charge carrier (electron and ion) and the optical phonons (confined LO and SO). It is found that the polaronic correction depends strongly on the magnetic field, the impurity position and the spatial confinement.
