White light emission from a single layer organic light emitting diode fabricated by spincoating

摘要
We report on white light emission from an organic light, emitting diode (OLED) prepared by spin coating. The organic layer is a single layer of polystyrene, in which we incorporate rubrene for orange emission and the phenylene-vinylene trimer, 1,4-bis(1,1-diphenyl-2-ethenyl) benzene (PEB) for blue emission. These two colors blend to white. The Commission Internationale de L'Eclairage coordinates are x = 0.30 and y = 0.37. When fabricated with an air-stable Al cathode, our white OLED has a quantum efficiency of 0.3%, a current efficiency of 0.9 cd/A and a brightness of 1500 cd/m(2). (C) 2000 Elsevier Science B.V.
